  Organizations

  It takes a lot of cooperation to do something like the 1999 LSU Computer Science High School Programming Contest. We would like to thank the following campus organizations who worked together to make this happen:

  • Computer Science Department
  • Middleton Library
  • Office of Computing Services

  The Computer Science Department obviously hosts the contest and does all the pre-contest work (mailings, soliciting for money, scheduling, ...). We would like to thank the Middleton for the use of the facilities, early access to the labs, tour coordination, and many other favors. We would like to thank the Office of Computing Services for use of facilites, the technical support to manage, configure, and customize the lab machines.

  Volunteers

  It takes a lot of people to put on a contest like this. The Computer Science Department was blessed this year with a lot of very good volunteers and a (mostly) smoothly run contest. Here are some of the major people who were essential to the making this competition happen: organizational center that makes it all happen. There are numerous other voluteers who need to be thanked:

  • Kathryn Traxler (Computer Science) - Contest Coordinator, did all the mailings, handled all the preregistration, solicited all the funding and volunteers, coordinated everything, arranged/bought prizes, did the t-shirts, the lunch, wrote some of the solutions, reviewed documentation and just about everything else
  • Sara Earl (Office of Computing Services) - Software installation, machine configuration, and countless other services
  • Brian Ropers-Huilman (Office of Computing Services) - Head Judge, co-developed problem set and solutions, trained the judges, helped with the machine configuration, co-developed the Language Specific Information, and much more
  • David Smith (Computer Science) - Wrote the scoring software, did the data entry and acted as C++ guru
  • Isaac Traxler (Office of Computing Services) - Kathy's husband - 'nuff said

  Countless others were invaluable in making this contest a success:
